Service Structure of Companion Care

Companion Care is a non-medical support service designed to provide social interaction, emotional support, and assistance with light daily activities for seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those recovering from illness. The primary goal is to reduce loneliness, encourage mental well-being, and help clients remain independent and engaged in a safe, supportive environment. Unlike personal care, which focuses on physical assistance, companion care emphasizes companionship, meaningful activities, and day-to-day support.

Social & Emotional Support

  • Engaging in friendly conversation, listening, and companionship
  • Reading, playing games, or participating in hobbies
  • Accompanying clients on walks, outings, or social visits
  • Encouragement to stay mentally active and connected

Daily Living Assistance (Non-Medical)

  • Assistance with light household tasks (tidying, laundry, organizing)
  • Help with meal preparation and serving snacks
  • Support with reminders for hydration, meals, or medications (non-medical prompts only)
  • Assisting with errands such as mail, phone calls, or scheduling appointments

Transportation & Escort Services

  • Accompanying clients to medical appointments, social gatherings, or shopping trips
  • Providing safe transportation and assistance with mobility during outings

Safety & Well-Being Monitoring

  • Dementia/Alzheimer’s Respite Care – Trained PSWs for memory care.
  • Post-Hospital Respite – Supporting recovery after surgery/illness.
  • Palliative/End-of-Life Respite – Comfort care while supporting the family.

Activity Engagement

  • Encouraging participation in physical activities suitable to ability (stretching, walking)
  • Supporting memory and cognitive exercises (puzzles, music, storytelling)
  • Promoting routines that maintain dignity and independence

Flexible Service Options

  • Hourly visits (minimum 2–4 hours per visit)
  • Overnight companion care (sleep-in support for safety and reassurance)
  • 24/7 companion services for those needing continuous presence and supervision
