Service Structure of Meal Preparation

Meal Preparation is a supportive care service where trained caregivers or personal support workers (PSWs) assist clients with planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals that align with their dietary needs, preferences, and health conditions. The goal is to promote proper nutrition, independence, and overall well-being, especially for seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those recovering from illness or surgery.

Assessment & Planning

  • Discuss food preferences, allergies, and dietary restrictions (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, heart-healthy).
  • Create simple, balanced meal plans according to client needs.

Grocery Support (optional)

  • Assist with grocery shopping or manage grocery delivery.
  • Ensure fresh, healthy, and culturally appropriate ingredients are available.

Meal Preparation & Cooking

  • Prepare daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks).
  • Cook meals that are easy to reheat or store for later use.
  • Ensure meals are prepared safely and hygienically.

Serving & Assistance

  • Serve meals at appropriate times.
  • Provide feeding assistance if required.

Cleanup & Kitchen Maintenance

  • Wash dishes and utensils.
  • Clean and organize kitchen space after meal preparation.

Monitoring & Adjustment

  • Track client’s eating habits and nutritional intake.
  • Adjust meal plans based on changes in health or preferences.
