Service Structure for Overnight Care

Overnight Care is a support service offered during nighttime hours (generally from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM) to help maintain clients’ safety, comfort, and well-being while they rest/sleep. This service is suitable for seniors, individuals recovering from surgery, people with chronic conditions, or those living with dementia who may need supervision and assistance overnight.

Monitoring & Safety

  • Continuous presence of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) throughout the night.
  • Regular check-ins to ensure the client is safe and comfortable.
  • Fall prevention and immediate response to emergencies.

Personal Care Assistance

  • Help with toileting, continence care, and mobility support during the night.
  • Assistance with repositioning in bed to prevent bedsores.
  • Support with breathing devices, oxygen, or medical equipment (as required).

Sleep & Comfort Support

  • Providing reassurance for clients with anxiety, confusion, or dementia-related restlessness.
  • Offering fluids, light snacks, or medication reminders (as prescribed).
  • Gentle support to return to sleep after waking.

Morning Routine Transition (Optional)

  • Assistance with early morning activities (washing up, dressing, breakfast preparation).
  • Smooth handover to daytime caregivers or family members.

Types of Overnight Care

  • Active Overnight Care: The PSW remains awake and attentive throughout the night to provide immediate support whenever needed.
  • Passive (Sleep-In) Overnight Care: The PSW is provided with a place to sleep but is available to assist if the client wakes up or needs help during the night.
